Cob Loaf

11 x 7g sachet

 2tsp caster sugar

1cup warm water

3 cups bread flour

1tsp salt

1tbsp olive oil

1 egg lightly beaten

 

Mix yeast & sugar with warm water & leave to stand for about 10min

 

In a large bowl add flour salt olive oil & yeast mix .

 

Mix to form a soft dough

 

Knead for 10 minutes or till smooth and elastic

 

Place inlightly greased bowl cover & set aside for 1 hour to double it's size

 

Punch down the dough to release the air

& it has returned to normal size

 

Shape the dough into a 15cn round loaf cutting a shallow criss cross pattern in the top placing on prepared baking tray

 

Cover again & leave in a warm place to once again double in size around 40 min

 

Brush top with beaten egg

 

Bake 35 to 40 min at 180C

 

When cooked turn on to wire rack to cool
